Discover the Pacific region’s rich and varied indigenous cultures at the impressive Tjibaou cultural center; designed by the world famous architect Renzo Piano. Your guide will introduce you to New Caledonia and Nouméa, its capital, and take you to Tjiabou Center named after the kanak leader Jean-Marie Tjibaou. Listen to fascinating tales of Kanak myths and beliefs on a guided walk leading to three imposing, traditional Melanesian huts from the three different Provinces of New Caledonia. The center showcases world class exhibits and collections of kanak and pacific cultures. Back to the main building, your guide will show you the various exhibition-rooms housing precious ritual masks and costumes, totem poles and sculptures, all of an exceptional standard.
